Well, hello there!

I almost  have the next comic done.  The last panel is really giving me some trouble.  I just need to think about it for a bit.  I've updated my profile a little bit as well for those who read this blog and want to know a little more about me.  If you have any questions please feel free to post a comment and I'll respone usually on the same day.

GREAT NEWS!  FFXIV is launching in 1 week.  That is if you bought the collectors edition.  It looks like it's going to be a little rough at first but I think after a few patches, probably only 1 or 2, things should run very smooth.  Did you guys hear about the fatigue system for that game?  Yep apparently you can only grind one class/job for 8 hours.  You can switch to another class and grind that for 8 hours.  It's an interesting system and I'm not sure how I feel about it.  Here is a good article as an overview.  You just have to scroll down to the bottom of the page.

The super secret project I've been working on with a few friends is getting a lot of great ideas.  More details later.

Great news blogland

Hey all, I have some news. I finally bought creative suites from Adobe. Hopefully it will make drawing Fumblyhands a lot less stressful.  Since I bought the program yesterday I want to first, get the program, and learn its subtle nuances so the next comic will most likely be up a little later. I'm torn between two comics.  Skittles or Colfax?

Also, I'm working on a super sweet project with some friends that I'm really excited about.  I don't really want to ruin the surprise so I'll just leave it at that.

Look! I think I posted on time!

Alright! Got my poo joke in, I think that officially makes me a cartoonist right? I'm still trying to figure out angles and such but I'm pretty happy with this.  Oh and this is a true story.  I was going to work, got to my truck and realized I'd forgotten my java.  I turned back and as I was walking kicked what looked to be a rock, but something seemed off...It wasn't the hard thud against my shoe I hear when I kick rocks, this was...soft. I look next to it and there's a empty fifth of vodka.  Being the smart person I am I put two and two together.  I'm not 100% certain but I feel pretty strongly that I'm correct.

Anyway, Starcraft II and video game companies in general are really starting to irritate me with this whole Downloadable content thing (DLC).  I understand only so much can fit on a disc but at least put a finished product on there.  In Starcraft II there are 3 races; the Terrains, the Zerg and the Protoss.  As of right now, you can only play as the Terrains.  The first Starcraft was a full game in which you could and had to play as all 3 races.  The term OMG Zergrush is well known through geekdom but yet you can't make your own zergrush as of right now in Starcraft II.  Well I'll keep an eye out on patch notes but I'm a little annoyed with this.  Good news though!  Fable 3 is coming soon and looks amazing.  Check out 1up.com for more info.

There's more I'd like to talk about but I'll maybe leave that for another post.

Comic!!! Woot!!!

As promised!  Sorry there is a lot of fine details in this...Still working

Update on status

Is that a redundant title?  I can't figure it out.  If your updating something wouldn't that something be the status?  Anyway, all of my visitors have left now!! Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed my time with everyone who was out here but I really want to get back to my normal day in day out routine and today is the day that I can finally do this.  We took some amazing pictures though that I'll probably post about on here later.

The comic is in the final stages and I'm really getting sick of Elements...need...creative...suites....

Starcraft II is FTW.  A lot of people have been saying that it is nothing new and I agree.  The original Starcraft was (for me at least) the standard by which all other real time strategy games should be made after.  It was great, and intuitive.  Basically Starcraft II is a continuation of the story from one but that's a good thing when you've made the gold standard of a genre. I'm just not sure why it took 10 years to make this game. The story is alright (or maybe it's the acting) but bearable. The game play is as easy to understand as the first one was and that makes the game so much fun.  You spend more time planning attacks and fortifying your base instead of learning new commands on the keyboard.

Goal for the night...finish comic...play craptons of SCII....do nothing else....

My vote for WTF moment of 2010

With everything going on with our economy, I'm pretty sure this is not going to do anything other than piss off/annoy some people.  Thank you NYSE for wasting some money that would probably have been better suited for helping the oh, I don't know, crapton of people who don't have jobs instead of putting these people up in front AGAIN and I'm pretty sure very few people cared.  We wonder why we are in so much freaking debt but yet we frivolously spend money on meaningless crap...what ever happened to being frugal in times of economic strife?!?  Have we forgotten everything from 80 years ago?  And my rant is complete.

Comic is 50% complete, hopefully tomorrow I'll finish it and it will be up for your viewing pleasure...(p.s. it just dawned on me that the comic pertains to the link above...weird).

OH YEAH!!! STARCRAFT 2!  Being an idiot I didn't pre-order so I'll be getting my copy tomorrow after work and I'll be playing all afternoon since it's supposed to rain here (after I finish the comic of course).

Freaking Smartphones

That is what I've come up with for the title of today's webcomic....you heard (read) right folks! I present to you a new comic.

I really wish I could figure out how to post the whole thing but as with the previous, click and you'll be able to view the whole image.  Trying some new stuff and seeing if I can't improve my art.  I apologize for the delay but as we have no A/C I have literally been sweating my balls off while drawing this.

It's very strange to me how smartphones work like this so often...I'll be in the woods or up on the top of a mountain and be able to zoom around the interwebs...I'll be in the burbs and my phone will decide it has lost all brains it once possessed.  WTF?

Anyway enjoy and I hope to not be so late on the next update.  But we shall see.  As always let me know your thoughts.

Sorry for the delay

Yeah so I can't post the comic tonight but will post it tomorrow evening...my apologize to everyone.

Edited

Sorry folks, removing the old one and keeping this one up.

Well hi der

Yes I know that dude-holding-the-beer's arm is F*ed, I'll be fixing it this weekend (you lose perspective when you are looking at only a portion at a time).  Also, last night a buddy and I came up with a really great idea for a new comic which I'll be working on and hopefully by the 12th I'll be able to post it up. Maybe that will be my update schedule.  We'll see.

In other news...STARCRAFT II IS AVAILIBLE FOR PREORDER!!! woot.  Only 25 days until release.  Neat!  I wish I had more videogame news but so far there has only been games that I can oogle from afar until they are released.  Perhaps a time machine is in order so I can play them now...Why am I in biological science and not in physics???? oh well.

Check back this weekend for a less M.C. Escher comic.

As promised and I apologize

Obviously this is not how one enters the Boy Scouts, however the things second graders tell other second graders can be fairly ridiculous.  I don't know how to copyright things but feel free to use it just (and I don;t know why you would want to try) don't try and make money off of it.  If you would like this image, please contact me first.

I apologize that it's small, I think if you click on it, it may get bigger (that's what she said!).  I need to get paid and I'll buy this domain name. I'll let you know what the link is then.  Until then DIBBS!!!!

So this is actually based off of a true story and by based, I mean this is a true story.  Hopefully my art isn't to terrible, I'm still working on Photoshop Elements until I can get a Creative Suite and then hopefully make the pretty pictures.

Anyway let me know your thoughts.  Enjoy.

Good Morrow

Alright, let's just get this out there...Texas is really F*(king warm.  I was there two weekends ago and while it was a good time hanging out with some of the old high school crew...it was hot as balls.

Also here's a bit of a rant.  I just got a wacom bamboo and I love it.  That being said...it would be neat if they gave me the some decent software to go with it.  They gave me photoshop editor which is fine if I want to draw giant phallus (phalli?)  all of some of my pictures but not if you want to actually draw things and create things.  Now I have to get something like illustrator.  So that's another paycheck that I have to wait until I can create things that I want people to see.  Once I do get illustrator though I'll be cranking out some stuff and I'm really excited.

I can NOT wait for Starcraft 2 to come out.  Starcraft was the first RTS (real time strategy) game that I ever played and it was amazing.  Very fun and easy to use and created the possibility for a thousand different spin-offs that I hope half see through to fruition.  PLEASE Blizzard?

After about 70 hours I'm finally nearing the end of FFXIII (final fantasy 13).  For me there is some love/hate with this game.  It was mildly entertaining and beautiful, the story was no where near FFVII, FFVIII or FFX.  It is better than FFXII though that's for sure.  I'm curious to see how their new MMO will be received after playing FFXI.  But we won't know that until fall (YAY!).  This is not the most hours I've put into a game FYI.  That record goes to final fantasy 12.  I was unemployed and pretty much played this game through to 100% completion.  That was a fun time.

In other news; check out this trailer for Gears of War 3.  Super pumped about this.  Hopefully some questions will be answered finally.  The song is called Heron Blue by Sun Kil Moon.

More later...

People

Most often I can be heard muttering that people A)suck B) are dumb C) are doomed to destory ourselves or D) all of the above.  But today I came acrossed this article that you MUST read!!!  This is just an impressive demonstration of coolness and charity.  Congratz people.

A lot of things

Man, (and woman I guess)

Things have been crazy busy around here. I've had a ton of friends visit lately and some even are not leaving! It's always great to expand your social networks. Since most people are multifaceted it's good to have friends that you can call on to do something and then call other friends to do something else. (pardon the stream of consciousness writing I seem to do, I'm working on it!)

I've been playing a bit of the Final Fantasy XIII. It's very interesting what they've done with the game. I'm not sure if I like it or not. The main story line is EXTREMELY linear. They don't even try to hide the treasure spheres. The fighting style is fairly basic, I think I've about ruined my controller from pushing X so much. My only problem is that when fighting the bad dudes seem to pick on one of my characters and leave the others alone. That's all well and good if they picked on a strong person. No, they seem to always and relentlessly attack my weakest player. Thanks Square* Once you finish the main story then the game opens up.... not really sure why they did this. To me, the last boss in the main story should be the ultimate badass in the game. For whatever reason they chose to make you keep playing after you finished the game! Oh well, I'm still going to play it!

I've decided what I'm going to get for drawing. It's called an Bamboo pen and I'm pretty excited about it. I also need a new monitor so I can draw pretty things and then actually see them on a digital monitor instead of my crappy analog I'm rocking right now from when Efru and I put it together back in 2003. Meh.

I promise I'll have some more stuff soon. Maybe even a comic or something (I've been working a little). Till then, Cheers!

I need a better program

So it's been a little boring around here lately and I've been working on another drawing. It's not perfect but I think it at least looks alright. I need to get the sizing right so hopefully next time it'll be good. I'll put the original side by side and let me know what you think.

I've finally cracked open some Assassin's Creed II. The game is gorgeous, the story is at least pretty well worked out and not incredibly ridiculous. I am learning Italian as I play as well so that's cool I guess. I wonder if they put that in there for the parents...they can claim it's all educational and junk.

I R Bored

Hey all, I was bored so I made this. Hope you like it. It may become a new thing/comic strip.
Sorry for the crappy quality, I need to save it as a JPEG next time. Tried to convert it but then I would have to pretty much redo all of the drawing. Done a few pixels at a time is kinda fun. Anyway enjoy! And let me know what you think.

The Geek in Us All

I've noticed throughout all my years, which isn't that many to begin with, that everyone has enjoys a little guilty pleasure in the realm of Geekdom. Famous celebrities have admitted to indulging in a little Dungeons and Dragons. Some of my friends, who upon looking at them, would have never given the impression that they are hardcore gamers or enjoy a little nostalgic NES playing.

For some reason, most people, my own mother included, will deny it to a point or will not openly exclaim that sometimes they do enjoy being a little geeky. I just find this observation amusing even if it is a generalization.

I haven't been playing World of Warcraft lately. When I first started playing my friend told me that it's like having a second job, only you don't get paid and your girlfriend gets mad at you sometimes. Totally true for the record. I only play about once or twice a week now and if you take like a week off you'll miss a lot I've learned. It's an extremely fun game, but you have to rely on other people to know what they are doing as well as do your own research. That's a lot of damn work for a game.

I just finished Dragon Age: Origins last week and I must say, the game had a great story. To me, this was really the only part that separated it from any other RPG (yes, I know that to be in a genre you need certain elements but you can still separate yourself within that genre). I was a rogue and had the same helm for the entire time except the first few hours of play. There were definitely things that were left to be desired but that's just me. I'll be telling you more about my thoughts on Assassin's Creed II soon.

An ethical question (sorta)...is it "selling out" if I allow ads to be on this thing?

Meh, Peace!

DAO

So how's everyone?

Can you actually believe your eyes? 2 posts in the same month let a lone on a "regular" update (maybe this'll have to be the new thing).

Quick question for the week: Do you guys watch Futurama? You know how Bender occasionally takes pictures and says, "Neat!" Did they ever put those pictures anywhere? A.k.a. a photo album of sorts? Just sayin is all.

I've been playing a lot of DA:O lately, yes I know I'm behind the times slighly but I'm on a scientists salary for goodness sake! And there's way to many games that need to be played. Anyway...DA:O has some awesome aspects to be sure. However; to I just crowned a king then proceeded to break into an estate with him... It felt strange. I have to agree with some others that while trying to be unique from everyone else is great; sometimes you miss what should be there. The visuals are alright but nothing stunning. Gameplay is a little wonky (I hope I'm the first blogger to use that word) at spots like standing next to someone and I can't hit them but oh well...

Next on the list will be AC II. I've already played a little but an really excited to just get lost in the story and beauty that I've seen so far in this game. I'll keep you guys posted on that if you care.

For now, Peace!

A bit of a turn around

Yes yes I know it's been a while. Shut up. I think this blog needs to go in a different direction for sure. I'm thinking about a couple options. Not just a play by play of my life but something actually useful to others in the blogging/interweb community. Now taking ideas!

I've been reading a lot of the articles here at http://www.cracked.com/ which tend to be hilarious and awesome all at once. I highly recommend checking them out.

If you are a bit of a video game dork like myself, I strongly recommend you heading over to http://www.speeddemosarchive.com/ Here you see some serious skill at some great games.

Enjoy this update and maybe I'll not take 6 months to update again. But who knows.
